◆ Maillib

Metalogic's MAILLIB library software is a new product which provides users of our Supervisor product significant enhancements in mechanisms for reporting system alerts (such as waiting entries, abnormal EOJs and critical system or display messages) to email clients on networked PCs or, via email, direct to pagers or mobile phones (using SMS)

System Alerts

Many Supervisor sites are using the Metalogic HOTLINE utility for reporting critical alerts to a local printer or a remote terminal, via BNA or TCPIP connections; the MAILLIB implementation offers an alternative method of economically supporting unattended operations by the conversion of system alerts direct to a pager or mobile phone.

MAILLIB conforms to RFC 1521 and 822 specifications for message transmission and mime-encoding of files, where appropriate. TCPIP connection to SMTP port 25 is used by default though the port number is configurable.

Protection against loss of Data

MAILLIB has its own integrated restart/recovery server functions to protect against loss of data if the designated mail server is unavailable data is queued to disk and MAILLIB will automatically retry the server every 180 seconds until a successful connection is made. MAILLIB is dynamically configurable through the ODT or Supervisor COMS window.

Virtual Print Server

MAILLIB has a built-in Virtual Print Server interface that allows backup files to be "printed" direct to an email client over a local network or even the internet. Like the Unisys Depcon product, this is controlled by using Print System attributes at the request level or via the USERDATAFILE attributes associated with a usercode. MAILLIB can also "include" or "attach" many types of files including backup files, zip files, wrap containers and stream files either via Supervisor or by a WFL/Cande utility called *OBJECT/MAILER.

If you are a Supervisor user, MAILLIB is a *free* upgrade. The software is now included automatically in the standard release package.
