◆ Alert #1: Metalogic Software MCP 48.1 Alert

8th February 2002

The recent release of MCP IC 48.1A9 (48.189.8257) prior to Christmas 2001 caused several problems for Metalogic software. This change affected Jampack, Supervisor and Flex users and usually caused the software to fault with an INVALID OPERATOR, possibly followed by a non-fatal INVALID UNIT memory dump.

At this time, this MCP change is not believed to have been retrofitted to earlier MCP levels such as 46.1 and 47.1.

A detour has been applied to the Magus library and is described below:

Dnote MAGUS 480.07 FIX 48.1 INVALID UNIT MEM DUMPS AND JAMPACK COMPATIBILITY

Date: Fri, January 18 2002

The release of MCP release 48.1A9 caused several problems with Metalogic software. First, any Supervisor TT HO command or certain Flex :FLAT directory searches could cause a non-fatal dump by INVALID UNIT. Both programs would fault with INVALID OP.

Also, on the same MCP release, during MAGUS initialization, the message JAMPACK RESOURCE UNAVAILABLE: STACKSTATUS would be displayed. This would have affected JAMPACK's ability to suppress job summaries after DS-ing any RESERVEDISKs.

You can determine the version of the MAGUS library:

Supervisor: 'TT WS' command
Flex Inquiry: 'WHAT' command
Jampack only: PD or LFIL of the SL-ed *METALOGIC/MAGUS codefile

If you intend to migrate to this MCP or later and you are not using MAGUS version 480.07 or later, please request a new support release by email at support@metalogic.eu.com
