The Volume Directory utility provides access to Library/Maintenance Volumes.

File | The File menu is used to select the Library/Maintenance Volume which is to be examined. | |
Select CD-ROM Image File | A CD-ROM Image is a Library/Maintenance CD-ROM Image file, usually with a file extension of .mcp. | |
Select CD-ROM Unit | A Library/Maintenance CD or DVD mounted on a CD or DVD Drive under Windows. Access to DVD/CD Drives is through the ASPI Driver which must be installed. | |
Select Disk Farm | Select the Disk farm Volume name, which contains a File000.dir file which contains the Disk Farm (Tape) Directory. | |
Select Wrapped Volume | An MCP Wrapped Volume file, usually with a file extension of .con. | |
Select BLPack Volume | A BLPack Volume which has been extracted as a container from a BLPack Tape. | |
Select A-Series Disk | An A-Series Virtual Disk Volume file, usually with a file extension of .asd. | |
Select Any File | Any file may be selected, and the utility will examine the contents and try and work out the type of Library/Maintenance Volume it contains. | |
Directory | The Directory menu is enabled after a Volume has been mounted, and the Tape Directory has been displayed. | |
Save To File | Saves the Tape Directory to a specified filename. | |
Copy to ClipBoard | Copies the Tape Directory to the ClipBoard. | |

Printer Font | Windows Printer Font Selection Dialog. | |
Printer SetUp | Windows Printer SetUp Dialog. | |
Find | The Find function can be used to search the Tape Directory for a specific filename. It currently positions the Tape Directory at the file after the found file, which is a nuisance and needs to be fixed. | |
View | The View menu may be used to change the layout of the Tape Directory. | |
Icons | The files are presented as an Icon list, although there is currently no icon image associated with each filename. | |
List | The filenames are presented in columns. | |
Report | The filenames are presented in a report layout. | |
File Numbers | If this option is set, then the filename is prefixed by the file number of the file (for example <00001> ). | |
Upper Case | If this option is set, the filenames are translated to upper case, otherwise they are presented in lower case. | |
Hex | When set, the filenames are displayed in their standard form in Hex. | |

Keys | The Keys menu may be used to load a Keys file, which allows access to the files in the Volume. | |
Open Keys File | Opens the specified Keys file. A Keys file on Windows is a binary image of an MCP Keys file, which can be created using Binary FTP. | |
Show Keys | Displays the Keys in the loaded Keys file. | |
Close Keys File | Closes the Keys file. | |
Tools | Convert Binary BACKUPPRINTER File to Text | This is a standalone tool which can convert a binary image of an MCP BACKUPPRINTER file to a Text file. a Binary Image of a BACKUPPRINTER file can be created using Binary FTP. |
Options | ||
Execute Associated Application after Saving. | If a file extracted from the Volume has an extension, then this option when set, results in the associated application being executed. For example, a file extracted as a.txt file will execute NotePad or WordPad or some other program, depending on the file association in Explorer. | |
Save Text Unsequenced | If a file is extracted from the Volume as text, and it is a CANDE FILEKIND, then only the Text is extracted when this option is set, the Sequence Numbers and any MarkId are ignored. | |
Select Single File, Right Mouse Button Click | This provides access to the following functions, which act on a single file. | |
File Attributes | Displays the Disk File Header Attributes for the file. | |
Save As Text | Saves the file as a .txt file, without regard to the FILEKIND of the file. | |
Save as Stream | A Stream file is saved as a file of bytes. Windows files which are copied to an MCP Library/Maintenance volume are stored as Stream files. This function can be used to save them in their original format. | |
Save as CD Image | The file is saved as a Library/Maintenance CD Image. | |
Save as Wrapped File | The file is saved as an MCP Wrapped Container. | |
Save as Disk Farm | The file is saved into a Disk Farm. | |
Save to Directory | The file is saved as a binary image into a directory structure which matches the file title directory structure. | |
Select Multiple Files, Right Mouse Button Click | This provides access to the following functions, which act on mulstiple files. | |
Save as CD Image | The fils are saved into a Library/Maintenance CD Image. | |
Save as Wrapped File | The files are saved as an MCP Wrapped Container. | |
Save as Disk Farm | The files are saved into a Disk Farm. | |
Save to Directory | The files are saved as binary images into a directory structure which matches the file title directory structure of each selected file. This function can be used to save the *SYSTEM/INSTALLS/= files into a Windows Directory such as C:\SYSTEM\INSTALLS\=. |
